Engineering Technician

The Coles County Highway Department is accepting resumes for the position of Engineering Technician. This position will report to the County Engineer. The selected individual will perform plan and specification preparation, construction testing, inspection and documentation, surveying, bridge inspections, sign inspection and placement, engineering research and reporting and other related tasks. The selected candidate should have a working knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation specifications and documentation procedures. Minimum requirement of an associate degree from a 2-year accredited college is required. Additional experience in the inspection of roads, bridges, and other public improvements is soughtafter but not required. Experience in operating survey instruments is highly desirable. Computer applications skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite, are required. Operating knowledge of AutoCAD and ESRI software is desirable.

The hiring range will be $36,000 to $40,000 depending on qualifications. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement contributions, paid time off which includes holidays, vacation and sick leave and a vehicle for work related use.
