No license will be issued after 4:00 PM. Processing a license may take up to 30 minutes. Please plan accordingly.
To obtain a marriage or civil union license both parties must be present.
State issued ID or Driver's License is required.
There is a one-day wait period-the license to marry becomes effective one-day after issuance and expires sixty (60) days after it becomes effective.
Information required will include family history such as where parents reside and in what state they were born.
Fee is $60.00, payable by cash or check.
All applicants under the age of 18 will need consent of both parents, legal guardians, or judicial approval. Applicants must present a certified copy of their birth certificate showing parents' names (long form). The parents or guardians must also be present and show identification.
Persons desiring a judge to perform a ceremony should contact the Judge's office at 217-348-0541.
Certified copies are available for purchase after license has been returned to our office. Fees are applicable each time requested, as follows: One (1) copy $18.00. Additional copies $5.00 each.
If requesting a certified copy by mail, please include the following: photocopy of state issued ID or Driver's License, appropriate fee, names of bride/groom/spouse, date of ceremony, and a stamped self-addressed envelope.
